ASX to expand into carbon, gas futures trading in transition payday

Carbon and gas trading will be a key driver of the ASX’s growth plans in the next five years, Australia’s market operator says, beginning with this week’s debut of environmental futures contracts.
On Monday, the ASX will list three new carbon futures contracts, allowing the hedging of emissions reduction risks. Those futures – for large generation certificates, Australian carbon credit units [‘ACCUs’] and New Zealand units – will be expanded to include gas contracts next month.
