Bond yields retreat as traders temper RBA rate hike fears

Bond traders have wound back hawkish bets that the Reserve Bank of Australia will need to raise interest rates this year, with some economists warning that financial markets overreacted to May’s hot inflation figures.
Futures markets implied on Thursday that the RBA would almost certainly lift the cash rate to 4.6 per cent by November, following an unexpected spike in inflation last month.
