    The West Australian treasurer says governments cannot throw economic and energy security “out the door” when assessing the impacts of major gas projects, as the state’s environmental protection agency weighs the future of Woodside’s controversial Browse development.

    Treasurer Rita Saffioti said the WA community expected governments to balance job security and energy reliability against environmental outcomes for major projects, adding that the $30 billion Browse gas project formed an important part of the state’s energy transition.
