Billionaire Andrew Forrest has run aground in his Indian Ocean backyard, with a Perth council resoundingly rejecting plans for a beachside hotel with bars and rooftop pool, and its mayor noting that “commercialisation and privatisation of beaches” are not a part of Australia’s culture.
