STEM NOLA To Host STEM Saturday: Saving Our City Event

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – STEM NOLA is hosting a free STEM Saturday on Sept. 9, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Cut Off Recreation Center – 6600 Belgrade St.

Students K – 12 will explore natural hazards such as flooding and coastal erosion, as well as essential topics like pumps and levees. Students will design, build and protect their own miniature cities from flooding and storm surge. Throughout the day’s activities, participants will discover the essential role STEM has in making it possible to live in New Orleans.

All materials will be provided upon arrival. This event is an opportunity for students to innovate, create and make with STEM professionals.

Event sponsors include Entergy, The City of New Orleans, New Orleans Recreation Development Commission, Boeing and New Orleans City Council.

Since its founding in 2013, STEM NOLA has engaged more than 125,000 students, 20,000 families and 5,000 schools.
