Week of July 12: Bastille Day, Movies and Cocktails for a Cause

Bastille Day

The annual “Running of the Bulls” event is back starting this Friday, along with a weekend long festival. San Fermin in Nueva Orleans kicks off with the main event running through the streets of the city on Saturday at 6:30 a.m. and a post-fun fiesta at The Howling Wolf. There is live music each night, Friday through Sunday, with ticket sales benefitting a variety of local charities.

Summer Movies

Each Sunday at 5 p.m., now through August, Zony Mash is screening summer movies. From camp to cult classics, blockbuster hits and classics, Instagram followers can vote on which movies is shown next. What could be better? Air conditioning. Beer. And a movie. Count us in!

Cocktails for a Cause

Across the lake in Covington, the Southern Hotel (also featured in this month’s New Orleans Magazine’s “Staycation” feature) recently announced their July fundraiser. Partnering with Fidelity Bank Power program and the Louisiana Hospitality Foundation, $1 from each “A Periwinkle in Thyme” lavender lemonade cocktail enjoyed in July will help support hospitality industry workers through emergency relief funding. It’s a win-win. Cheers!

Summer Sip and Paint

Moon Garden is one of our new favorite spots to grab a summer refresher. They have an extensive boba tea menu with lots of toppings, plus they recently announced their first event at their new Magazine Street location. Bring friends and enjoy a paint and sip night on August 1 with boba tea, cheese and charcuterie. $45 includes painting, food and drinks.
