Weddings have always made me cry. My own wedding was a simple and intimate affair, which is good, because at 25 years old, my event planning skills weren’t yet well-practiced. While my Big Day was a lovely event, knowing what I know now, after attending countless weddings as a more mature adult, I would do a few things differently. For example, I’ve seen the impact of adding in little details that tell the couple’s story. Seemingly small touches, such as hiring a jazz manouche band for the ceremony to commemorate the couple’s first date on Frenchman Street or serving a dessert at the reception inspired by the restaurant where they got engaged, invite guests into their world and add another layer of love and romance. That said, even a short, sweet city hall wedding can evoke tears when it’s so obvious that two people who love one another are saying
