Metairie, La. (October 14) – Presented by Bryan Subaru, the annual Wine, Dine & Design event raised more than $87,000 to assist with funding for Bastion, the nonprofit organization that is building an intentionally designed neighborhood in New Orleans for returning warriors with lifelong rehabilitative needs and their families. Additionally, an “angel donor” matched the contribution, bringing the total donation to more than $175,000.
Held on Oct. 12 and 13 at the Audubon Tea Room, the event featured over 25 elaborately designed “tablescapes” created by local designers. The two-day soiree, which was produced by St. Charles Avenue Magazine, also featured a live auction including a live event painting by Alex Harvie. Chairmen for the Preview Party and Luncheon included Peyton and Elizabeth Bush, Lamar and Michelle Villere and Dylan Tete, Executive Director of Bastion.

About Bastion:
The Bastion site is located on 5.5 acres in the Gentilly neighborhood of New Orleans. Designed by architect Jonathan Tate, the development of 78 residential units along with a Wellness Center and common areas is underway and progressing in two phases. Bastion is one mile from City Park and Bayou St. John, and ten minutes from the new VA Medical Center. This project will serve as a replicable model for national expansion. Warriors and families will live in a planned community alongside other purpose-driven adults. The community will be designed to foster informal neighboring and enduring relationships. Our goal is for residents to maximize independence in the home and age in place.
