“A Sweet Soiree,” an evening benefiting children with disabilities and their families was held on Saturday, April 21, by ACCESS at the Stone Creek Club and Spa in Covington. The event featured wine and dessert with live music presented by NOSACONN (New Orleans South African Connection, Inc.) featuring: David Batiste and NOSACONN founder Damon Batiste; Russell Batiste & Friends featuring Jason Neville, Mark Mullins of Bonerama, Cyril Neville and Mike “Soulman” Batiste; Donald Harrison and Congo Square Mardi Gras Indians; New Birth Brass Band; Zulu Connection Stilt Walkers; and a Michael Jackson tribute. Guests were also treated to a silent auction and raffle items.
The mission of ACCESS is to raise awareness and funds to help support families of children with disabilities in order to improve their quality of life. ACCESS is a group of individuals, healthcare providers and business entities. ACCESS has a core advisory board composed of representatives of the Northshore medical community including physicians, therapists and hospital system administrators, as well as parents. Northshore Families Helping Families also participates.
