New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity (NOAHH) has been a leader in housing, disaster relief, and long-term rebuilding efforts for more than 39 years. NOAHH’s homebuyer program provides hard working individuals and families who are unable to qualify for traditional home loans the opportunity to purchase a home they can afford in Orleans, Jefferson, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, and St. Charles Parishes. Upon meeting program requirements, including a need for housing, stable income and a willingness to participate in the homebuyer program, partner families provide 250 hours of “sweat equity” consisting of volunteer hours and taking classes on homeownership and financial literacy. Other NOAHH programs include home repair services, disaster relief, long-term rebuilding, and ReStores in New Orleans and Kenner that sell donated furniture, appliances, construction materials and more to the public. In joining forces with families, volunteers and donors, NOAHH creates thriving communities for generations to come.
