WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM YOUR COMPETITION? As a certified Interior Designer with 18 years of experience and a background in hotel design, I approach projects with a wealth of experience. A hotel may have a location to take into consideration and a brand name that may direct some of the design. In the same sense, each home and client are different—the clients are their own brand, and each house has its own architectural style and detailing. It’s always about creating a customized space for each client that fits their needs rather than being about my own design style.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT THE JOB? I really love the architectural side of each project. An interior design project involves a lot more than just making selections. I do a lot of drawing—creating a space plan and elevations for a renovation project is like a big puzzle with all the pieces having to fit within the constraints. This is also the area that most clients struggle with and one of the more helpful tools to get accurate pricing for a renovation. It feels rewarding to put together a package that will help a client move forward more successfully with their project.
WHERE DO YOU FIND INSPIRATION? A lot of my inspiration comes from travel and my surroundings. I lived in Hong Kong for two years and California for 10 years before coming back to Louisiana.
WHAT IS THE BEST FEEDBACK YOU’VE EVER GOTTEN FROM A CLIENT? One of my favorites is, “We couldn’t have done it without you!”
