Marinus Link makes billion-dollar cable commitment

The federal government-backed venture planning a second power cable linking Tasmania with Victoria has inked a $1 billion contract with the world’s largest cable maker to ensure the critical project arrives in 2030 to help keep the lights on.
Marinus Link chief executive Caroline Wykamp said the award of the contract to Italy’s Prysmian gave much more certainty around the targeted date to start construction in 2026.
