Pfizer invests $150m in Melbourne to fight superbugs

US pharma giant Pfizer says the Albanese government must do more to encourage investment in the research, manufacturing and supply of drugs to treat rising levels of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), which is tipped to kill up to 10,000 Australians by 2050.

Pfizer on Tuesday announced it would invest $150 million to upgrade its Melbourne plant, which is using new technology, including artificial intelligence, to produce new treatments for patients in hospitals with severe infections.
