Psychedelics as a serious investment? These billionaires think so
Australia is among the first countries to use the drugs for treating anxiety, depression and PTSD. A decision in the United States could be pivotal.
Former investment banker Peter Hunt never did drugs when he was younger. His interest in psychedelics started later in life. That’s when he became intrigued about research into psilocybin – which is found in magic mushrooms – and MDMA, to treat anxiety, depression and PTSD as part of his post-banking philanthropic work helping the disadvantaged.
A stickler for detailed analysis, Hunt and his wife, opera singer Tania de Jong, went to the Netherlands to undergo the therapy to determine first-hand if the treatments had merit. Hunt was sold.
