Star was warned of lack of executive experience before NSW inquiry

The manager overseeing Star Entertainment’s casinos warned the company about its lack of expertise in remediation and its “passive” board directors months before NSW announced a second inquiry into its suitability to hold a licence.
A report from special manager Nick Weeks last October, which was sent to Queensland and NSW regulators, blamed regulatory and financial pressure as reasons for a lack of good quality candidates on Star’s board and warned of continuing high-risk practices inside precincts.
