Sydney metro line delayed days before opening
Staff reporters
The NSW Labor government called off the opening of a major part of the $21.6 billion metro train line under Sydney days before the first passengers were due to board, after regulators refused to sign off on its safety.
The announcement on Tuesday threw the rollout of the Sydney Metro network into disarray, and state Transport Minister Jo Haylen repeatedly declined to say when the line would be ready for commuters despite saying it was “99 per cent ready”.
