Top US general heads to Middle East as tensions mount

London | Israel and Iran-backed militia Hezbollah traded fire in each other’s territory on Sunday, as a top US general headed to the Middle East amid fears that the region is teetering towards a wider war.
Hezbollah said it had launched dozens of rockets at the northern Israeli settlement of Beit Hillel, forcing Israel’s Iron Dome aerial defence system into action to intercept some of them.
