    Q: I read in your column recently about a person who had a family holiday home which caused them to be ineligible for the age pension. What might have been done in those circumstances to achieve a better outcome? Frank

    A: Whether it is a holiday home, a painting or work of art, owning an asset which does not contribute materially to cash flow can be a problem for retirees seeking the government age pension for the income it provides.
