Will Albanese’s ‘no losers’ reshuffle be enough?
Whether Labor’s belated concession to hubris and the other ministerial change is enough to avoid its seeming fate of entering minority government at the next election is the question now.
Forced to shake up his ministry after more than two years of stability by the resignations from politics of Linda Burney and Brendan O’Connor, Anthony Albanese has threaded the needle on a mostly “no losers” reshuffle unlikely to rattle the cages of the factional warlords.
Even Left faction ally former immigration minister Andrew Giles, under siege over his handling of the High Court-ordered release of non-citizens from mandatory detention, has gone sideways into Skills and Training to replace Mr O’Connor.
